Trustees
"We are a board of directors completely committed to the vision and aim's of Camp Quality. We are serious about fun and want children with cancer to realise their potential. This is done through gaining positive childhood experiences, and that is what we are committed to offering today, just as we did 20 years ago."

Marc Lawn, Chairman
Marc has a varied and successful corporate career having spent time with Honda, Britvic, Whitbread and EMI to name but a few. His career has spanned marketing, sales, operations and HR. Having lost his best friend whilst at school Marc had always vowed to 'give something back'. Marc has supported many charities over the last few years via The Media Trust and works closely with The Grief Encounter Project and Dr Shelley Gilbert.
Ben Matthews, Secretary
Ben has been involved with Camp Quality UK since 2005, inspired to volunteer by a close friend who overcame cancer as a child. Ben enjoyed his first experience as a companion so much that he signed up for two more camps that year! Since then, Ben has been keen to become more involved with the charity and looks forward to helping the charity grow by being part of the committee. Constantly inspired by the children he meets through the charity, Ben brings a wealth of media experience after being Editor of the multi-award winning student newspaper, York Vision, and communications expertise through his current role as a PR Associate for a London corporate communications consultancy.
Russell Casey, Deputy Chairman & Director of Policy
Russell first became involved with Camp Quality as a camper, after being diagnosed with Cancer at the age of twelve. He attended several holidays, and by the age of seventeen, became a Companion. Today, at the age of 32, Russell has been to some thirteen camps, two of them as co-director. He has enjoyed every moment with Camp Quality, and would love to continue being involved with the Charity for many years to come.
He believes that through his own illness he has been able to offer children, who are going through similar experiences, the opportunity to take part in many life-lasting experiences the children will always remember.
His dedication and commitment has made a great contribution to his role on the Executive Committee. Something, he wishes to continue in whatever capacity it may be.
Adam Abbs, Director of Volunteers
Adam was introduced to Camp Quality UK as a companion in 2003, and still serves as a companion every year. That first encounter motivated him to leave behind his career as a projects director for a new media agency and retrain as a doctor.
Adam's strong media expertise will play a key role in developing an effective communication strategy to support the growth of Camp Quality UK in the medium and long term. But, his direct, practical experience as a companion will certainly help him stay in touch with the realities of the camps and the children they serve.
He is also looking forward to volunteering as a doctor on camp in 2012 following 9 years of training in medicine!
Jean Casey, Director of Finance
Jean has spent many years working in an accounts office, and well used to dealing with money. However, she first came across Camp Quality when her 13-year old son, who had a brain tumour removed one year earlier, was offered a place on a holiday.
She became a companion on several camps, then a Camp Director assuming overall responsibility for an individual camp. Since then, Jean has joined the Board of Trustees taking responsibility for finance.
Jean is very keen for every child with a cancer-related illness to have the chance to go on a holiday, and make long-lasting friendships in the process.
Delyth Thomas, Director of Membership
Delyth lives in London. She has been a companion at two camps, Dunfield 2005 and Peak Adventure 2006. She would be the first to say that she has thoroughly enjoyed her time volunteering, and relishes this new challenge to serve on the Executive Committee. Delyth will certainly bring a wealth of charity experience to the team, and will be a valued member as the charity looks to expand over the next five years
Chris Buswell, Director of Medical Services
Chris Buswell is a GP living and working in the York area. In 2007 he was pleased to be asked to join the Chamonix trip as camp doctor and companion. He found this to be an extremely rewarding experience and was delighted to be invited onto the executive committee. He has been able to develop links with the oncology unit at St James' Hospital, Leeds and hopes that this will enhance his role. Chris will be participating in the future trips, getting stuck in as both camp doctor and companion and is looking forward to future challenges.
