Gwyn Rowe
It is with sadness that we announce that former Chair for Camp Quality UK, Gwyn Rowe, collapsed on Tuesday 26 August 2008 and passed away soon afterwards. Gwyn, alongside Marianne, dedicated countless amounts of his time and energy to Camp Quality UK over many many years, bringing the charity through to the 21st century. Gwyn's legacy lives on through all the children with cancer who have in the past, and will in future, enjoy a holiday of a lifetime at our camps.
Gwyn's funeral will take place at Sutton church on Saturday September 6th at 11.00 a.m. At the request of the family, any donations received, in lieu of flowers, are to go towards the International Youth Forum (IYF) fund.
Our thoughts are with Marianne and their two sons, Wayne and Andrew, at this sad and difficult time.

Chamonix holiday a big success!
On August 9 2008, Camp Quality UK took 9 young people aged 14-17 to Chamonix, France.
With a base at the luxurious Chalet Robert (kindly donated by Bob Camping), activities for the holiday included white water rafting, mountain biking, canyoning, rock climbing, ice skating and much, much more! Luckily, our cook Sue doubled up as a massuese so was able to tend to our aches and pains after such active days!
Great fun was had by all and there was a tremendous group spirit, with all of the young people getting actively involved in anything the volunteers threw at them. We've already received some very positive feedback from parents who are the ones that see the real benefits that the holidays give to these young people.
All of the photos will be placed in the photo gallery soon, but in the meantime check out blog here, our Facebook page (with plenty of photos) here, and also a very special video documentary made by one of our young people here.
Companion Alex raises money for Camp Quality UK!
Experienced companion, Alex Cornish, is embarking on a phenomenal challenge to raise money for Camp Quality UK's future holidays. Alex, a fourth year medical student at the Hull-York Medical School, will be not only running a marathon, but will be doing it up a mountain, in the OMM Mountain Challenge! Following all the cakes and sweets at our New Barn camp, Alex has started training in ernest.
We would like to thank Alex for all the effort and training he'll be putting in over the next few months. If you'd like to support Alex, please visit his JustGiving page.

Centre Parcs Weekend and Interim Chair
Camp Quality UK recently ran a pilot holiday in Centre Parcs, Nottingham Forest. Feedback from children and parents alike was very positive. "The difference in the children in such a short space of time was fantastic, their confidence was raised and they left us full of energy and self-esteem" said one volunteer, Alex Cornish. We are looking at running similar holidays in future. See the photos for this holiday in the photo gallery
As we say goodbye to our chair, Andy Betts, we'd like to thank him for all he has done for the children of Camp Quality UK and the charity itself over the last 10 years. Initially raising funds for the charity, then being a companion, camp director and eventually chairman, Andy has shown immense dedication to the cause, committing a tremendous amount of time and energy to ensuring we can continue to serve children with cancer in future. Recently he oversaw the launch of our new logo and website, ensuring that we project the right image for years to come. We wish Andy and his wife Jen every success in their new venture in the United States. Whilst recruiting for our new chair our secretary, Ben Matthews has undertaken the role of interim-chair.
Andy will continue to assist Camp Quality UK on a number of projects.
